On that note, 45KVA UPSes get hot when their 600VDC battery array is down to 481VDC… The racks of gear next to it sure don’t help.

Lessons learned:
1. Even if the power is off – turn on the lights in the room you’re working in so you know when the power has returned.
2. If the HVAC next to you starts beeping and the LCD comes on, then makes an explosive amount of noise while you’re inspecting it, refer to previous point for ways to avoid the shock.
3. Security guards are useless.
4. Security guards are even more useless during a powerfailure.
5. Make sure you have more keys than security does. Or at least the right ones.
