SysInternals, and more specifically, the guy who broke the news about Sony’s DRM junk, have posted a article about the evils of spyware and the vendors of purported repair tools.

Not that I condone the use of Windows, but if you’re in the unfortunate position of being a Microsoft customer, you should have setup on your computer:

• Firefox – for web browsing. There is no reason to use MS Internet Explorer anymore
• Windows Updates – check daily, I hate the notion of MS pushing software onto PCs, but several exploits are released into the wild after Billy has fixed the problems
• Spybot Search & Destroy
• AdAware run this and Spybot at least weekly, more often is better
• Norton Anti-Virus (or some other virus scanner) Remember – if it’s not current – it’s not useful
