Delivered today was my xmas present from Thomas, a Phonic T8200 ‘Tube Optimizer’, which is a fancy way to say “aural compressor“. It seems to have been ordered & shipped from the the U.K…. and something we all easily forget: Set up for 220VAC @ 50Hz. Doh.

I’ve already written to Phonic… hoping they tell me to just use a different tap on the transformer and change the fuse, otherwise I guess it’ll have to be sent off or returned – neither of which are pleasant options.
But it sure is pretty, excellent industrial design on it;

Here’s hoping they write back soon, otherwise I’ve got to figure out how to get/build a 220V 50Hz power supply. Would frequency even matter?
