Emerald gets some good PR

Emerald HIS is a Health Informations System software provider whom I’ve been working for increasingly since the summer. The software isn’t anything wild or super exciting, but it’s one of those things that must work, and it’s important because the reports from it are ministry mandated now. I was brought on (initially) to support the Unix/Solaris side of things as it’s a predominantly Windows shop, the reason for the Unix is that Emerald signed a contract in the summer with North York General Hospital (in Toronto), and they’re a Solaris shop. It’s been a fun and stressful ride, a lot of hacking and fun stuff going on. Monday marks the first round of go-live for a pile of users (I think I heard 150 or so), so I’ll have to turn in early Sunday night just in case there’s some fires Monday morning.

The other good news is that we got published in Canadian Healthcare Technology, and quite a flattering article at that. I feel proud to have been a direct part of that.
