Points of Interest:
The Title: Martin insists on calling it a “blob” or a “bubble”, so who am I to disappoint my audience?
The Sub-Titles: Randomized nutbar quotes I’ve always kept around for total confusing zaniness.
Anti-Spam Measures: Serendipty has a few things to combat comment-spam… not like it’s been a problem here (yet.) I’ve got 4 different counter-measures in place now.
Ads: I turned on Google Adsense themed ads, tho I’ve yet to see anything out of the ordinary come up.
Stats: Serendipity seems to keep limited stats and reporting, there’s even supposed to be a publically visible widge on the main page, but I couldn’t get it to show up, so I turned it back off. I also use Google Analytics (Urchin), which is pretty cool, but the reports interface could still use some work.
Hits: Wow. I’m getting about 50 unique hits a day on average. That’s not including RSS polling or robots. But – I don’t even *know* 50 people! Who are all of you?? Leave comments! And rather unsurprisingly the biggest day for hits was the Thursday I picked up the Element; just over 500 alone.
Backend: Serendipty using PHP on Apache with PostgreSQL 8.0. The DB server was never meant for production so I really should move that over the a full-on SVRNi machine.
Plans: Dress up Mike.Geiger.ca with a real site, integrate this ‘blog into it and the domain itself. (Any volunteers for graphics? I can quid-pro-quo you some nice hosting 🙂
