Look Ma! I’m certifiable!

As of this past Friday, I’m now a Certified (by BICSI and FOA) Fiber-Optic Technician. A week-long course in Miserysaga.

Here – look at my splice, but be careful – it’s single-mode!

My Fusion Splice: 0.20dB Loss
(It’s inside a Q Pack for protection.)

I can now perform fusion and mechanical splices, connectorize cables, clean, strip and prepare a cable, measure losses and all that fun stuff.

Now to get a fusion splicer… not like I have anything better to do with $12000…
