<Devnull> boo 🙁
<Myke> I find that hard to believe
<Myke> you’re just going to listen to show-tunes all day.
<Devnull> … damn random songs

Woke up this morning decided I’d ask about working from home, this was cool. Can’t do this any day, but last night I happened to bring home the server that I’m presently staging, so that was a big part of Project Go Nowhere. The original intention had been to work on it last night home, but I ended up out in Kemptville, repairing a router for a good friend/client MIAD, we’ll call him. He was actually the second victim of mine to get a m0n0wall router, and it’s been pwning his LAN for over a year and a half now. I think lightning or induction currents from a strike cooked the WAN facing NIC… but that happens with wireless connections. (And modems!) Nothing a $5 Realtek won’t solve.

Part of that deal was dinner, from Mountain Pizza in Mountain Stn. Like Lone Star’s salsa, Peter must be sprinkling it with crack, because I simply can’t get enough of that pie!
Swapped the WAN interface on MIAD’s router and everything seemed to be fine. He gave me his old Linksys WET11 and a 12DB flat-panel directional antenna; I haven’t quite figured out what I’m going to do with it, but presently it’s spraying my street with a rude SSID – and no network attached. I’m so mean!

Afterwards, we returned to MIADs house. We went to the basement to look at the PCs there, when I passed thru his son’s play area…. tell me this doesn’t look awesome!

Feline Included!

And the cat is such a sweetheart too! I want one! …The Cat, I mean.

And I might’ve convinced MIAD to get a Mac Mini… this cult… so… expensive!

Once I finished up in Kemptville, I decided to head home on Boundary Rd., which is an unlit, unpaved, back-country road. And not two minutes down it, I’m flagged down by a girl in an ancient GM car. Her car died and her year-old son was in the backseat, so I gave them a ride home. She told me she’d done the same for someone else just a week before… Good for the Karma (… not the carma tho), I just hope my car doesn’t die next week!
