So I imagine most people who know me that I don’t have a job; I’m an independant consultant. Ever since I finished my schooling, I haven’t been employed by anyone. I’ve been on contract, so I have to do all of my own taxes, CPP contributions and all that jazz. It’s been quite a ride, making gobs of money, then weeks without gaining a cent… Clients who pass along great knowledge and experience, and guys who try to screw me out of $200 invoices… or suceed with a $3000 hardware purchase.
In addition to all that, I’ve also been running most of Server North Inc., an ISP I started with a few other guys which we incorporated in January ’05. I think I invested about 6 to 9 months into getting that all going.

As I come up on 3 years of doing this, it’s finally time to get a GST Number. I’d been targetting today to get it because it’s a nice boundry being the beginning of a month and it’s the same day we registered our GST account for SVRNi… so it won’t be as easy for me to forget that I have to file and/or owe money.

My father had sent the link to the BN Registration site earlier, and I prepared myself for what was no doubt going to be a patience-testing registration process… Only be completely, and utterly denied. Bastards. But that’s not what the neighbours heard me scream at my screen.

And while this just seems like I’ll have an inconvenient start/end date for my quarters… it also is a road-block for the laptop purchase, which is just an unbearable reality for me now. I need it. Last month. **whimper** (incidentally, I’m leaning very Macward right now)
